Fire Department Inspection Services

CFS Inspections performs nondestructive testing and inspection for Fire Department aerial ladders, platforms and ground ladders according to NFPA 1911, Standard for Inspection, Maintenance, Testing, and Retirement of In-Service Emergency Vehicles, 2017 Edition Chapter 22-Performance Testing of Aerial Devices.

After completion of tests, all units will have a complete written or digital report with a digital picture of unit on the cover page. Serious defects will have a picture in the summary page. Reports will be given in digital or written form. You will receive this report on-site same day as the inspection.

​CFS Inspections will provide a Certificate of Inspection after needed repairs are made.

Ground Ladder Inspection

Ground Ladder Inspection

According to NFPA 1932, all ground ladders shall be service tested on the following schedule:

  • Before the ladder is placed in service for the first time.
  • At least annually.
  • At any time a ladder is suspected of being unsafe.
  • After the ladder has been subjected to overloading.
  • After the ladder has been subjected to impact loading or unusual conditions of use.
  • Whenever the ladder has been exposed or is suspected of having been exposed to direct flame contact.
  • Whenever the heat sensor label has changed to indicate heat exposure.
  • After any repairs have been completed, unless the only repair was replacing the halyard.

According to NFPA 1911 Chapter 22, All inspections and tests specified in this Standard, except those specifically designated as nondestructive tests (NDT), shall be conducted at the following times:

  • At least annually
  • After major repairs or overhaul
  • Following the use of the aerial device when the aerial device could have been subjected to unusual operating conditions of stress or load
  • When there is reason to believe that usage has suceeded the manufacturer’s recommended aerial device operating procedures.
